The TGR Learning Lab is committed to providing opportunities for students to learn, grow and prepare for their futures. Internships allow students to gain transferable skills, build relationships and experience a professional environment as they advance in their college and career journeys.
As the summer session comes to a close, the Learning Lab recognizes the interns who spent their summer break immersed in hands-on learning.
Partnerships are essential to expanding internship opportunities for students at the Learning Lab and throughout the community. With support from five partner organizations, the Learning Lab hosted eight students who fulfilled responsibilities across various careers, including administration, marketing, teaching and youth development.
Summer 2026 internship partners included Anaheim Union High School District’s AIME Program, United Way, Garden Grove Unified School District’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program, Valencia High School’s Val Tech Program and California State University, Fullerton. Together, these partners placed the following interns at the Learning Lab:

- Cesar Flores
Internships are also beneficial to the mentors who guide students throughout their experience.
“It has been truly inspiring to watch each intern grow over the past several weeks,” said Ashley Cortez, TGR Learning Lab volunteer coordinator. “Mentoring these students has been a rewarding experience, and I am proud of all they have accomplished during their time with us. Their hard work, creativity and enthusiasm have made a lasting impact on our team, and I have no doubt they have bright futures ahead.”
As students prepare for a new academic year, they will carry the experiences, skills and professional connections they gained this summer into the next stage of their academic and career journeys..
